Marty Party 2022

World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) was initiated in 2006 and is an annual awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. It has a global outreach and is an effective tool to help raise global awareness of the threats faced by migratory birds, their ecological importance, and the need for international cooperation to conserve them.

Every year people around the world take action and organize public events such as bird festivals, education programmes, exhibitions and bird-watching excursions to celebrate WMBD. All these activities can also be undertaken at any time on the year because that countries or regions observing the peak of migrations at different times, but the main day for the international celebrations is 10 May.

Our 2022 Marty Party and World Migratory Bird Day event was held on 14 May 2022 at the Summit. It was a very successful day with around 400 people in attendance. Many of those in attendance had questions about the Purple Martins and we did our very best to answer all those who made inquiries.

We’d like to thank those at the Grand Prairie Summit for sponsoring us again at this yearly event. Jorja Clemson, Grand Prairie City Council District 1, Daniel Cauthen, Summit General Manager, Michael Levy, Summit Assistant  Manager. The Summit provided bottled water, pop corn, ice cream, hot dogs, and entertainment. Many thanks to all. We would also like to thank our PMLNT members who came out to help with this event. My wonderful husband Dick Fregoe, Ray Doss, Larry Skinner,  Tammy Chan, and two of my special friends Robert & Hidalgo Meyer who came to help us. We couldn’t have done this event without everyone’s support and help.

I hope to see more of our PMLNT member next year.

Kind Regards,

Gisela Fregoe

President PMLNT
